What to Expect: Family, siblings, feelings

It’s Okay is a story about a young family and their daily life. Readers are introduced to Mommy, Daddy, baby sister, and the narrator (a toddler), who explains that not every day is easy but “it’s okay” because it is their love for each other that matters the most at the end of the day.

MS Freire does a fantastic job describing everyday struggles within a young family and the big feelings of toddlers. By using common situations that all readers can easily relate to, the author creates a very authentic story and gives us gentle reminders that while some days may be challenging, in the end, everything will be okay because families love each other “each and every moment.”

This book would make a great resource for parents, caregivers, and teachers looking to normalize how every day may not always be a good day within a family. Unpredictable schedules, a division of parental attention between siblings, and interactions between parents can affect the whole family. It’s Okay does a tremendous job of addressing the variety of thoughts and feelings a toddler may experience and emphasizes that “it’s okay,” which is crucial for children to know.
