Junior Review: Wink

Life throws you constant curveballs, but how can you ever be prepared for any of them?

This novel talks about a 7th grader’s early experience with the obstacles in life.

Ross Maloy has always wanted to be ‘normal’ whatever that really means. But any chance of that goes out the window when he gets diagnosed with eye cancer.

He used to have two best friends, but ever since the diagnosis, he has been totally ghosted by one of them. On top of that he must put eye goo in his peepers, his hair is falling out and Ross must wear weird hats.

Life is not exactly heading towards normal at this point. Ross’ dream is to be with the perfect girl in the grade, but that does not go as planned either. Ross wants to find a passion, but will it fulfill his dream of being normal?

Rob Harrell has written a novel filled with comedy, based on his real battle with cancer. Friendships, crushes, cancer and how to find the laughter during the toughest moments in life. This heartfelt novel is a must read, and I hope you enjoy it!
