[Book Quote Tuesday] “The Man Who Lies To Himself…”

It is that time of the week again where we share a book quote that seemed particularly striking for us.

For the month of April, our book quote theme is: TRUTH.

The Philippine election is coming up in a month (yes, I am a registered voter), and so I thought of devoting the entire month to TRUTH, especially since fabrications, deceptions, manufactured versions of alternate realities are being peddled as so-called ‘truths.’

I am amazed at people who believe that if they speak an outright lie loud enough and repeatedly, it becomes the truth. It has been years since I have read the Russian novelist, Fyodor Dostoevsky. I think I will have to reread The Brothers Karamazov (Amazon | Book Depository) soonest – just to remind myself of how people are able to live with themselves while clothed in self-deception.
